Today marks a milestone we've been working toward for a long time: the roadbeat public website is officially live at roadbeat.net. After months of architectural planning, design iteration, and development, we're opening our doors to the world.

What is roadbeat?

roadbeat is the goal-driven content platform. Instead of algorithmic feeds designed to keep you scrolling, roadbeat lets you define your goals - "Learn Spanish," "Find cycling events near me," "Track climate policy" - and delivers structured, transparent content matched to your intentions.

Every piece of content on roadbeat comes with a clear explanation: "Why am I seeing this?" No black-box algorithms. No dark patterns. Just content that matches what you actually want, delivered on infrastructure you can trust.

What you'll find on the website

The roadbeat website is your gateway to understanding the platform:

  • For Users - Learn how goal-driven discovery replaces the infinite feed. Set your goals, get matched content, understand why. No ads, no tracking, no manipulation.
  • For Publishers - Discover how 100+ structured content types and self-hosted infrastructure give you full control over your content and audience.
  • How It Works - Explore the decentralized architecture: Schema Registry, Studio CMS, Discovery Nodes, and Content Pods - every component open source and self-hostable.
  • Support - Find ways to back the project, from sharing the word to becoming a pilot publisher.

Built in Europe, for European values

roadbeat is designed from the ground up with European values at its core:

  • GDPR-native architecture - not a compliance patch bolted on after the fact
  • No behavioral tracking, no surveillance advertising, no cross-site profiling
  • Full data sovereignty - European hosting (Hetzner, IONOS), full data portability, self-hosting option for every component
  • Open source - Community Edition under AGPL 3.0, schemas under Apache 2.0, documentation under CC BY 4.0

We believe that a social platform should serve its users, not extract value from them. That belief is coded into the architecture.

What comes next

The website launch is just the beginning. Here's what we're working on right now:

  • Web Client - The roadbeat consumer web application is in active development. Define your goals, discover content, understand why - coming soon.
  • Mobile App - Native iOS and Android apps with offline sync, goal management, and the same transparent discovery experience.
  • Pilot Program - We're looking for 10–20 pilot publishers in the DACH region to shape the platform together. Local newsrooms, event organizers, cultural institutions, educational publishers - if that's you, get in touch.
  • MCBW Workshop - Join us on May 8th at the RUFFINIHAUS CreativeHub in Munich for "Designing the Social Web We Deserve" - a live demo and open discussion as part of Munich Creative Business Week.

Join us

roadbeat is not just a product. It's a statement: that the social web can be designed better. That content discovery doesn't require attention extraction. That publishers deserve infrastructure they control. That users deserve transparency.

Welcome to roadbeat. We're glad you're here.
